History
Evans
Ranch is located in Midland, Texas and is owned and operated by
Bart and Nina Evans and their two sons, Robert and Gene.
As an
exemplary horseman, polo pony trainer, horse breeder and outstanding
polo player, Bart Evans' success came in true "by the bootstraps"
manner. He loved horses all his life and at 18 years of age, tried
polo at Mackie's Arena in Kansas City. Bart went on to play polo
in college.
Bart
became on of the best players in the country, earning an 8-goal
handicap in 1976. This cowboy gentleman played a competitive brand
of polo, superbly mounted on his handy, fast ponies.
Over
his long and colorful career, he has won numerous major USPA events
including the 1983 US Open Championship, the US Handicap C.V. Whitney
Cup in 1981, '88 and '89 and the Butler Handicap in 1972, '75, '76.
He won the Monty Waterbury Cup in 1985, the American Cup (formerly
16 goals), and the 1993 Silver Cup. Bart's team also won the Pacific
Coast Open and the International Gold Cup.
On the
international scene, Bart represented the USA in winning the 1988
Westchester Cup against Australia. In addition, Bart won two World
Cup Championships.
